art is the act of structuring time

This is one of the gems in Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way. Tonight I will be structuring 30 minutes to be specific, and with another person we will structure about 75 minutes, more if you count the time that people get to gather with each other and drink a drink and talk a shit. There's the art and then there's the gathering around the watering hole of the art.

Art is the act of structuring time, paradoxically, because it requires forgetting about time for a little while, becoming absorbed and immersed in something that exists in time, technically, but feels completely apart from it, is in another part of us.

For a while the opposite of "I am running out of time" I toyed with was, "Time is running out of me." Now I try, "I am running into time." Art is the act of running into time, holding up all this stuff—that has happened or is happening or that we want to have happen - sometimes in our own lives, sometimes in the lives of other people—and witnessing it from another angle, from another time. Don't look now.

Here's the ticket link to this little piece of time I've structured, you can catch it, in time, at 8pm EST. Tell everyone you know who lives here and honestly tune in live too, it will be streaming on youtube. Tell anyone who might want a little break from Time.

I'm also so excited to share the next interview with you in a couple of weeks!

Talk to you on the other side!
