i went to a friend’s show the weekend before last and got to see her positively shred on the guitar (total fan of SuperKnova check her out! a bonus was getting to see the drag performer, Courage, perform the song Treat Me Like A Toilet. They even dressed up as a toilet…………..
I don’t know what the lyrics mean, but they really resonated, and have stayed with me since. Somehow they get at the absurdity of being alive. The performance really reminded me that even though it is a relentless shit show in so! many! ways! beauty, rhythm, audacity still come to rescue my spirit from the overwhelming sense of futility. It’s tongue in cheek, or something in bowl…..The belting and dancing all out are a little bridge, to the next moment.
